Traditional Restaurant

Le Bouillon

10, rue Saint Marc - 75002 Paris

Le Bouillon is located half way between the "Grands Boulevards" and "Bourse" metro stops. A brasserie and wine bar, it is just next to the Passage des Panoramas, the oldest covered walkway in Paris. Refurbished from top to bottom by interior decorator Sylvie Hakim, the establishment offers a brand new panoramic terrace, with a pleasant view of the neighbourhood life: workers from the financial district, coin and stamp specialists, local residents and tourists of all kinds. Inside, the décor recaptures the Paris of times gone by. Large mirrors, a big Belle Epoque style zinc bar... with homage to Art Nouveau, especially Klimt, and to cubism with Mondrian.

The chef, Philippe Lévêque, an habitué of Michelin-starred addresses, worked for 17 years alongside Jean-Pierre Vigato at L'Apicius. Here, he has created a nostalgic menu of classic brasserie favourites. Homemade shepherd's pie, head of veal, beef Bourguignon, andouillette sausage, French toast, traditional rice pudding... always fresh and seasonal, the cooking is unfussy and authentic, like the place itself. The wine bar is a genuine delight, offering forty wines to sample in a pleasant, friendly atmosphere. Visit for an aperitif, or later in the evening, and choose from a selection of grand crus and lesser known equally interesting wines.

There are Happy Hours every day, breakfast from 6.30am, a good cocktail menu, Paris style brunch on Saturdays, and service with a smile... what more could you want?

Bistrot

Café de Paris

45 Avenue de Friedland - 75008 Paris

Here is a taste of Paris, a reflection of its essence, located on the Avenue de Friedland, in the Hausmann style, just opposite the luxurious Hôtel Napoléon, a former haunt of literary figures such as Hemingway, Steinbeck and Dali. A short walk from the Champs-Elysees, but protected from the crowds, the Café de Paris Friedland offers a perfect postcard view of the Arc de Triomphe.

Run by the charming Ludivine Cazoul and decorated by Sylvie Hakim, the bistrot section, under a large covered terrace, is in a chic, retro style, with old-fashioned signs, pedestal tables with marble tops and rattan chairs. However, inside, the restaurant breaks with tradition, with small lounge areas for a more intimate atmosphere, or round tables and red banquette seating for a "tête-à-tête"; for the Cafe de Paris Friedland also reflects the modern side of Paris. Like the exhibition of pictures by the photographer Vic, a young French woman based in New-York, which offers a quirky, poetic vision of the modern bistro. Whether you come for scrambled eggs for breakfast, a rib of beef, Caesar salad or burger with house fries for lunch, to share a Magnum of pink champagne for an aperitif, to sip a Mojito, or to try James Bond's "Vesper" cocktail, the key here is simply to relax and enjoy yourself...

The friendly welcome, discreet service from staff in black aprons, and the poetic atmosphere, make this the new, elegant address in Paris's Golden Triangle.
